WHO ARE HEADGUARD®?

The HeadGuard® mission is to visit areas around the World where women and children have experienced trauma in the form of sexual assault, war experience, domestic violence, trafficking or any other form of life-altering situations. Not only have they been through horrific abuse but a lot of these women and children have lost their families and are unable to work as they may have no education, nor means of learning what to do, to get paid for proper legal employment. We aim to not only help these women and girls cope with traumas but also, to teach them a trade to be able to earn a living. Our vision is to:

• Teach the women and children to become self-sufficient, making sure they are able to understand boxing, teach boxing safely by running boxing classes and an accredited Boxology® boxing teaching course (see Boxology® page for more information).

• Enable them to understand how to be independent through mind work and coping mechanisms, by creating mind workshops and using proven/approved mental health strategies. Provide material on boxing and mind exercises so as to continue to help individuals long term.

• Create awareness material for a variety of educational topics; e.g. an informative book about sexual assault awareness, body-related topics, nutrition, etc. that can be tailored to a specific audience (teenage girls, or mothers).

• Helping individuals learn how to guard the body and the mind using sport and mindfulness.
